THE HOLCOMB ESTATE

The energy of the city. The serenity of a nature preserve.

Holcomb Estate Condominiums

A nature preserve in the city

Holcomb Estate is a community of spacious homes with a variety of floor plans in a unique, secluded area near Butler University, next to the International School, just across the White River from the art museum and the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, and close to IUPUI and downtown Indianapolis.
Named after James Irving and Musetta Holcomb, who built a mansion on a bluff above the river in the 1920s, Holcomb Estate today includes 53 homes on 32 acres, with approximately half of the property preserved as a park-like area. A trail goes down one of the beautiful wooded ravines on the property past a waterfall, leading first to a large grassy meadow, and then to the river and through another wooded area.

For some residents, Holcomb Estate simply offers quiet homes where they can relax and enjoy nature without having to worry about exterior building and landscape maintenance – with the added advantage of being close to downtown Indianapolis. But a significant percentage of residents participate in the Owners Association board and committees, and others enjoy gardening in the residential area or taking part in community projects, e.g., ongoing efforts to protect the natural areas for wildlife habitat.

Note:  Holcomb Estate is located within the Town of Spring Hill. Originally incorporated as a town in 1927, the Town of Spring Hill incorporated into Indianapolis as part of Unigov in 1970.
